Born on December 16, 1968, in Timișoara, Romania, Big Chris discovered his passion for music at a very young age. By the age of three, he was already trying to recreate the songs he heard on the radio, and at ten, he began studying guitar under the guidance of Ion Popescu at the House of Youth in Timișoara. From an early age, he was drawn to Western music, especially American music—a passion he believes is also part of his family heritage, as his maternal great-grandfather was an American citizen. At the age of eight, he discovered Elvis Presley, the artist who would forever shape his musical journey. It was then that he realized the rock music he loved was deeply rooted in two essential American genres: blues and country. While he developed a lifelong appreciation for both, country music ultimately became the style that best reflected his personality, thanks to its optimism, authenticity, and heartfelt storytelling. Throughout his career, Big Chris has performed with several rock bands, both in Romania and abroad. After spending nearly eleven years performing on the international music scene, entertaining audiences from across Europe, he returned to Romania and founded the rock band Fără Filtru. At the same time, he reconnected with one of his earliest musical passions—country music—which he continues to perform and promote with the same enthusiasm and authenticity. In his live performances, Big Chris pays tribute to legendary artists such as Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, and Kenny Rogers, while also bringing audiences up to date with the new generation of country stars, including Alan Jackson, Garth Brooks, and Luke Combs. The result is an authentic, modern, and heartfelt country show that celebrates both the rich heritage and the exciting future of country music.
Big Chris brings a mix of country and rock to the festival finale. His set adds drive, groove, and the right energy for the Sunday crowd.
